![]() ![]() Dele Sosimi, keyboardist and previous musical director for Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80, and friends follow on Sept 19 and on Sept 20 there’s an evening of animé film scores performed by piano and string quintet – from Stompy’s Playground string ensemble. Reopening is an evening of Southern Soul with The Sierra Band, playing two sets of funk and soul hits from the likes of Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Dr John and more (Sept 18). ALSO reviving live shows is long time Camden staple the Jazz Cafe, with a fully seated, socially distanced, limited capacity arrangement, reliving the venue’s old school days.Entry via prize draw and gigs will take place as soon as they can safely happen, when normal service can resume – not socially distanced. Also coming soon to Electric Ballroom are Pet Shop Boys, who play Passport: Back To Our Roots, part of a series of one-off gigs by some of the UK’s biggest acts to support independent grassroots venues. Matlock, who isolated in lockdown with band member Earl Slick, will be joined by Chris Musto on drums, Jim Lowe on bass and special guest Neil X (Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Adam Ant, Marc Almond). LIVE gigs are gingerly making their way back into our listings with the latest being ex-Sex Pistol Glen Matlock playing a socially distanced set to a seated-at-tables audience at Electric Ballroom today (Thursday).
